This is so much more than craft time! During the fall, our elementary students participate in an involved economics unit. Students make items to sell to the public at our St. Nicholas Market. In preparation for the market, they must keep track of receipts and participate in a discussion about market value. Students learn about work ethic and are paid for their time. Once the market is over, students pay back the money they borrowed, purchase presents for their parents, donate 10% to a local charity, put money in their savings account, and take-home real cash earned.
