Government Week was April 14-18. Kendall County invited St. John students to participate in a pilot program for Government Week that they hope to be able to offer to all 3rd-5th grade students in the future. The students visited the historic jail, historic courthouse, emergency services, jail and courthouse. Along the way they got to meet with emergency personnel, judges, district attorneys, county clerk, county treasurer, dogs that serve our county and more. Not only did they learn about Kendall County’s history, but also about all of the jobs in our county that make our county run smoothly. Of course, students participated in events like getting locked in jail, finding each other guilty, exploring emergency vehicles, playing with county dogs, and trying on handcuffs! Judge Cohoon discussed the book of Judges and what God says about living peacefully.
